Save The Depot!!!

July 9, 2002 - The historic Great Northern depot in Hutchinson is in need of repair due to a lightning strike two years ago. The Luce Line Railroad Club has teamed up with Historic Hutchinson to preserve the last remnant of Hutchinson's railroading history. Our first goal is to stabilize the condition of the building to prevent further deterioration. Once stabilization is complete, we plan to begin a full-fledged restoration effort.

If you are interested in joining the citizens of Hutchinson in this important restoration effort, please contact one of the club members listed below, or visit us in the Hutchinson Mall during the viewing hours listed below. And stay tuned to this web site for progress reports.

Rumor has it that a plan exists to remove track on the north side of the Crow River, erasing much of what little remains of our railroading history. Let's not let the last surviving structure be sacrificed to create another parking lot! Please help us save the depot!

Attention, Great Northern Fans!

If you are one of the many fans of the Great Northern Railway, take a look at this web site:

Great Northern Empire

"A website about the Great Northern Railway and what is left of it today. A place for rail-fanning the old Great Northern, and finding information about James J. Hill's GN, like rosters, locomotives, passenger and freight cars, cabooses, routes, pictures, depots and other structures, name trains like the Empire Builder, and much more!"
